Welcome to Losch's Ridge View Farm Boer Goats!
If you are looking to purchase a quality colored Boer Goat, you have stopped at the right place! Whether it's spotted, dappled, red, black, paint, or traditional, we have breeding stock with the genetic composition & breed character to produce the offspring of your choice. We offer Registered & Commercial Boer Goats for sale year round. Our stock has shown well in 4H programs, as well as the ABGA Sanctioned Show ring. We have a strong focus on productive, hardy breeding stock that is capable of producing kids with above average weight gains.
Our brood does have earned their place here by being maintained on a forage diet & producing top notch kids that excel in my customer's breeding programs, as well as compete in the show ring! They are pasture hardy gals that have excellent maternal qualities.
~Farm History~
In 1998, my husband (Stuart) and I purchased a 50 acre farm in Port Royal, Pennsylvania which bordered the Juniata River. We both had an interest in farming and raising animals. . . . and so the saga begins. Stu began raising registered Black Angus cattle, but sold his herd when upgrades & renovations were needed on the farm. My interest in goats began in 1998, with two brown & white spotted Nubian wethers (aka “Bill” & “Bob”). I became intrigued with their personalities and the endless mischief they got into. Raising goats is a bit addicting. You can’t have just one!
I began researching the Boer breed & purchased my first 100% Boer buck in 1999, along with a few non-registered does. Over the years, I kept a few of the best progeny from each herd sire we purchased. Each generation brought a higher percentage of Boer and better quality of goat. We currently have approximately 25 mature Brood Does, most of which are Purebred from many generations of our own on-farm breeding. We also maintain about 1/4 of our herd as Fullblood Boers. We retain doelings each year to serve as replacement in our own herd. We also sell some privately and in the Fall Into Colors Sale as well.
Over the years, our herd has evolved, as we progressively purchased higher quality Boer bucks to increase the overall Boer breed character (heavy muscling, excellent weight gains, strong roman head & wide hornset, strong legs and pasturns, wide loin & clean teats) into our herd. We continue to strive for adding these qualities into our spotted, dappled, red, black, paint & of course traditional colored Boers. Our Herd Sires have done their job well......producing kids of exceptional quality in array of eye popping colors! What an additional bonus!!
2017 was a year of change for us. A bit of Dejavu as my goat obsession has come full circle. WE NOW OWN the farm that sold me my first 2 Nubian wethers which started my obsession with goats. LOL. We sold our Port Royal, PA farm and have transitioned from "Riverview Farm" to life at our "Ridge View Farm" in Mifflintown, PA.
We have been blessed to be consignors in the True Colors Boer Goat Sale & also The Wild and Wonderful Boer Goat Sale in the past. In 2017, Stu & I hosted the first annual Fall Into Colors Boer Goat Sale. We are now planning the 8th Annual sale to be held on October 10, 2024. The sale will be ONLINE @ www.HerdBuilderProAuctions.com 8am - 8pm CDT

By utilizing sustainable principals of agriculture, we are able to offer you Boer Goats of exceptional value and genetic composition at competitive prices!
These young does are enjoying their newly planted pasture featuring a browsing assortment of plants. I am already enjoying the benefits of a ridge side pasture, as compared to the constantly wet river bottom ground......with less hoof maintenance and fewer hoof problems.
