Herd Dam Selection

We select our Brood Doe stock based on the following simple rules:

  1. The doe must exhibit superior maternal instincts.  If you don't have a doe with excellent mothering capabilities...that fancy, high priced buck with "big name" genetics, is not going to have enough progeny available to offset his cost.  Bottle babies are cute & I love them..............but they are not cost effective!

  2. Brood does must produce offspring that post good weight gains.  Our does are expected to produce heavy muscling in their progeny that brings top prices at livestock auctions or commands respect in the show ring.

  3. Does @ Losch's Riverview Farm are expected to perform.  They must be able to regain their body weight lost during lactation on the lush pastures that grace our land.  Our Brood does are not on heavy grain supplementation.

  4. Conformation is important. We strive to meet or exceed the Boer Goat breed standards upon which the ABGA, USBGA & IBGA have been based.

  5. Parasite resilience must be evident.  High parasite resistance is a premium quality that we are heavily culling to attain.

  6.

Photos shown on our website are candid shots of the "workin girls" that make our Boer Goat operation a success.  I will post additional info as time allows.  We have approximately 65 Boer/Boer Cross Brood Does, so it may take some time to get more Does listed for viewing.

Note:  ALL Registered goats on our farm are through the ABGA.  The USBGA does accept ABGA registrations for transfers & for registration of kids.

Losch's R.V.F. Moonwalkin Paisley ~ Paint Boer Doe

Losch's R.V.F. Moonwalkin Paisley

ABGA #10563209

We are super impressed with this young replacement doeling.  Shown in this photo @ 8 months of age, this Feb. 2012 doe is solid as a rock!  She has the tight topline of her Sire:  BA CSF Moonwalker.  Paisley is clean teated, with a good bite.  Paisley's Dam is a DL Livestock doe with a spotted background.  We have reluctantly decided to offer her in the 2013 True Colors Boer Goat Sale.

Losch's R.V.F. DA's Painted Poppy ~ Red n White Paint Doe

Losch's R.V.F. DA's Painted Poppy

ABGA # I-10486858

This beautiful paint doe was sired by Fern Hollow Farm Double Action.   She is a heavy built doe of show quality.  This gal is one of my favorite producers here on our farm.  Poppy breeds & kids easily.  All the kids she has produced are top notch!  Her photo speaks for her build.  Her maternals & parasite resistance ensure her a place within our herd!

A Spring 2011 doeling is shown below:

Love'NM Miss B Haven ~ Red Paint Boer Doe

Love'NM Miss B Haven

ABGA# 10469830

Miss B came to us from Melissa @ Love'NM Ranch in sunny California.  She was entered into ABGA sanctioned shows, has accumulated points and has passed both visual inspections for ennoblement. I love the thickness in this doe.  Her top line is like a table.......wide & straight!  Miss B is appropriately named, as she has quite the personality!  She produced spots for us in 2012, when bred to TAM Spotted Spattered.  In the Winter of 2013, Miss B gave us beautiful red & white paint triplets to Fern Hollow Farm Double Action!

Losch's R.V.F. Ringo ~ Red n White Paint Boer Doe

Losch's R.V.F. Ringo

ABGA# 10365928

This red & white paint Boer doe is shown "heavily bred" & out on pasture in the Fall of 2011.  I love her low maintenance, high productivity & corky personality!  Ringo kidded to TAM Spotted Spattered in the Winter of 2012 & is bred back the same way for 2013.  Top notch colored kids seem to be her trademark.  We took her red & white paint doe aka Losch's R.V.F. Spot's Ring ~n~ Rosie to a few ABGA shows in 2012.  She placed in several shows currently has 4 ABGA points!
