Herd Dam Selection

We select our Brood Doe stock based on the following simple rules:

  1. The doe must exhibit superior maternal instincts.  If you don't have a doe with excellent mothering capabilities...that fancy, high priced buck with "big name" genetics, is not going to have enough progeny available to offset his cost.  Bottle babies are cute & I love them..............but they are not cost effective!

  2. Brood does must produce offspring that post good weight gains.  Our does are expected to produce heavy muscling in their progeny that brings top prices at livestock auctions or commands respect in the show ring.

  3. Does @ Losch's Riverview Farm are expected to perform.  They must be able to regain their body weight lost during lactation on the lush pastures that grace our land.  Our Brood does are not on heavy grain supplementation.

  4. Conformation is important. We strive to meet or exceed the Boer Goat breed standards upon which the ABGA, USBGA & IBGA have been based.

  5. Parasite resilience must be evident.  High parasite resistance is a premium quality that we are heavily culling to attain.

Photos shown on our website are candid shots of the "workin girls" that make our Boer Goat operation a success. I will post additional info as time allows.  We have approximately 65 Boer/Boer Cross Brood Does, so it may take some time to get more Does listed for viewing.

Note:  ALL Registered goats on our farm are through the ABGA.  The USBGA does accept ABGA registrations for transfers & for registration of kids.

Losch's R.V.F. Buckshot's Spotted Halo ~ Spotted n Dappled Boer Doe

~Losch's R.V.F. Buckshot's Spotted Halo~

 ABGA #10531965  (50% Spotted/Dappled Boer Doe)

Halo is a beautiful young doe with an eye catching interplay of dappling in her coat.  She has matured since this photo was taken a year ago. Halo's Dam is Dottie, a wildly spotted unregistered Boer cross doe. Her first kidding resulted in 2 solid red does sired by DA in 2012.  We retained one of her awesome solid red doelings. Halo kidded twins to Losch's R.V.F. Blaxton in the Winter 2013.......a solid black buckling with a few dilute spots & a solid red doeling!

1aa Slash's Pinata ~ Spotted n Dappled Boer Doe

~1aa Slash's Pinata~

ABGA #10524935  (97% Spotted/Dappled Boer Doe)

Steve Knepp, Wayne Ellis & I traveled to 1aa Farm in Illinois for this doe & her spotted sister.  I love the Boer breed character she exhibits & the genetics she carries.  Pinata's coat is a beautiful combination of muted spots & dappling in shades of red, beige, brown & white.  She has excellent length & good bone.  She should have been shown! I decided she was worth more to me as a brood doe, than as a means of collecting more ribbons to catch dust!  Pinata was bred to Tam Spotted Spattered & kidded on 1/1/13 with a wildly spotted buckling & solid red doeling with a few white spots.  Beautifuls kids!

1aa Slash's Fiesta 7.29.12 ~ Black & White Spotted Boer Doe~

~1aa Slash's Fiesta~ SOLD

ABGA #10524936  (97% Spotted/Dappled Boer Doe)

Steve Knepp, Wayne Ellis & I traveled to 1aa Farm in Illinois for this doe & her spotted sister.  She carries length, bone & spring of rib, along with her muscle mass & pretty head!  Her Ranchos De Dios genetics draw me in! Fiesta's coat is a beautiful combination of muted spots & dappling in shades of black, beige, & white. Like her sister, Pinata is also show correct. I've shown her doeling (Losch's R.V.F. Spot-A-Lisa) & absolutely LOVE the way she has matured.  She is bred to Losch's R.V.F. High Voltage for Winter 2014 kids!

Losch's R.V.F. Confetti ~ Spotted Boer Doe

~Losch's R.V.F. Confetti~

ABGA #10482379  (50% Spotted Boer Doe)

This spotted and dappled Boer doe is a favorite of those who visit the farm. She is known for producing spots. I love the way her kids thrive on the rich milk she produces and her excellent mothering skills. She is one of those dams that hears her own kids cry out of a group of 30 + and runs in from the pasture to check on them!  We did not blood test her, but she is looking like she was caught by Losch's R.V.F. Blaxton for Spring 2013 kids!  We're keeping our fingers crossed & hoping for more black spotted kids on the farm.

Bullseye ~ Spotted Boer Doe

~Bullseye~  (SOLD)

Non Registered Spotted/Dappled Boer Cross Doe

Bullseye was part of my Spotted & Dappled Boer Goat breeding program.  She consistently produced spotted or dappled offspring with strong, Boer breed characteristics!  One of her doe kids (Confetti) is shown below.  Bullseye was bred to TAM Spotted Spattered for January 2012 kidding! Her doeling was sold @ the 1st Annual True Colors Boer Goat Sale on May 26, 2012.  She was bred back to DL American Ride & gave me two beautiful doelings in the Fall of 2012!
