~ Herd Dam Selection~
We select our Brood Doe stock based on the following simple rules:
-
The doe must exhibit superior maternal instincts. If you don't have a doe with excellent mothering capabilities...that fancy, high priced buck with "big name" genetics, is not going to have enough progeny available to offset his cost. Bottle babies are cute & I love them..............but they are not cost effective!
-
Brood does must produce offspring that post good weight gains. Our does are expected to produce heavy muscling in their progeny that brings top prices at livestock auctions or commands respect in the show ring.
-
Does @ Losch's Riverview Farm are expected to perform. They must be able to regain their body weight lost during lactation on the lush pastures that grace our land. Our Brood does are not on heavy grain supplementation.
-
Conformation is important. We strive to meet or exceed the Boer Goat breed standards upon which the ABGA, USBGA & IBGA have been based.
-
Parasite resilience must be evident. High parasite resistance is a premium quality that we are heavily culling to attain.
Photos shown on our website are candid shots of the "workin girls" that make our Boer Goat operation a success. I will post additional info as time allows. We have approximately 65 Boer/Boer Cross Brood Does, so it may take some time to get all the does listed for viewing.
Note: ALL Registered goats on our farm are through the ABGA. We can furnish paperwork for registration of goats through our membership with the USBGA & IBGA @ customers request.

~Losch's R.V.F. Confetti~
ABGA Registered 50%
Confetti was sired by Max Boer Goats RU Top Spot. This photo is of Confetti as a kid......born 3/14/08. She is now part of my spotted Boer Goat breeding program & a proven herd dam. Look for an updated photo of her & info on our Spotted & Dappled Boer Does page.

~Losch's R.V.F. Buckshot Spotted 4 Below~
ABGA Registered 50%
This spotted caped, Boer doeling was sired by Losch's R.V.F. Buckshot & born 1/3/10. Spotted 4 Below hails her name from the frigid temperature in which she was born. I went out to the barn in the am. with the wind chill of 4 below to find her nursing from Bullseye. No barn cameras..................no heat lights...............no pens for "bonding"..................just great maternals!!
