This Jr. Buck is 9 months old in this photo.  Shown off lead, no bath or clipping.  His heavy bone structure, natural muscle and width are evident in the photo.  He has an interesting genetic package that we feel is of benefit to our breeding program and focus.  If you scroll through his Dams side of his pedigree, you will see Savanna bloodlines mixed in.  The Savanna lines we maintain on our farm are exactly what the breed standards dictate: good fertility, excellent mothering ability, good rates of gain, parasite resistance, desirable carcass qualities and year-round breeding.  Reproductive efficiency (highest litter weaning weights/weight of doe) are also seen.  Buttonwood was sent to the West Virginia Buck Performance Test in 2018.  He finished 8th out of 126 goats.  We are very proud of his ranking and test results.  He ranked high in feed efficiency, measured via RFI (Residual Feed Intake).  I hope to create an informational page on this website so that data and explanations can be read and understood by anyone considering performance testing their bucks.
